Hakozushi
Osaka box sushi
Osaka's own pressed sushi. You'll layer rice and toppings in a mould, press them together and cut it into neat rectangular pieces. Ours is topped with prawn, anago (conger eel) and tamago.
A private, English-taught class for just the two of you, in a Japanese home about 30 minutes from Kansai Airport.
Four kinds of sushi, all made with your own hands — from seasoning the rice to the final cut. When we're done, we sit down together and they become your lunch.

Osaka-style roll
A big, generous roll made the Osaka way. We'll show you how to fill it and roll it firmly, so every slice holds together.
Local, seasonal fish
Hand-pressed sushi with tuna and whatever fish is in season, bought from our local supermarket.
Sweet tofu pockets
Pouches of sweet-simmered fried tofu, filled with sushi rice — simple, comforting, and always the first to disappear.
Your sushi is your lunch. Everything you make, we eat together at our table — so there's nothing to take home, just a very good meal.

We've spent more than 35 years in the Japanese food and sushi business — Nari in the UK since 1989, and Yoshie with nearly a decade in Japan's restaurant industry, beginning at one of the country's largest sushi chains. Today we run Nari & Yoshie's Japanese Sushi School in Solihull, England, where we teach private sushi classes.
Osaka is Yoshie's home town. From January to March 2027, we're opening our own home near Higashikishiwada Station to guests — two at a time — to share Osaka's own style of sushi, and to cook with you the way we would with friends.
With two of us and two of you, there's always a hand to help.
Absolutely brilliant. Fantastic hosts, true professionals. You could not meet nicer people than Nari and Yoshie. They explained everything very well and with passion. The sushi tasted amazing. Would highly recommend.

Wow, what an incredible experience. Nari & Yoshie welcomed us into their home and made us feel relaxed and completely at ease. A small note: at our school in England, guests take their sushi home in trays — you'll see this in the reviews and photos. In Osaka, we do things a little differently: everything you make becomes your lunch at our table.
Our home is in Kishiwada, in southern Osaka — about 30 minutes door to door from Kansai Airport. We'll meet you at Higashikishiwada Station on the JR Hanwa Line.
Take the Kansai Airport Rapid Service (Kanku Kaisoku) on the JR Hanwa Line — a direct train, no changes needed. About 20 minutes to Higashikishiwada Station.
Take the JR Hanwa Line from Tennoji to Higashikishiwada. From Namba or Umeda, travel to Tennoji first and change there.
The ticket gate at Higashikishiwada Station, at 10:30. From there it's about a 10-minute walk to our home.
Travelling with luggage? We're happy to look after suitcases and large bags at our home during the class — handy if you're coming straight from the airport, or heading there afterwards.
Our home is a private apartment. We'll send you the exact address once your booking is confirmed.
The class is designed for two adults. If you're travelling with children, please get in touch before booking and we'll gladly talk through what might work for your family.
Yes. We're happy to look after suitcases and large bags at our home while you cook — so the class fits easily into your arrival or departure day.
Please tell us about any allergies or dietary needs when you book, so we can plan ahead. Our sushi uses prawn, anago (conger eel), tamago (Japanese omelette), tuna and seasonal fish — if any of these is a problem, let's talk it through before you book.

We understand that travel plans change.
Yes, from start to finish. We teach every class at our school in England in English, so no Japanese is needed at all.
